5 Coats Every Woman Must Have

Posted by KRISTEN BIBBY on

Who has a thing for coats? In an ideal world, I could never have too many - especially because of the cooler climate that sticks around for the majority of the year. There is a coat for every season, temperature, and occasion. It's something you'll get a lot of millage from and it will last for years to come if you take care of it and buy quality.

But let's be honest - most of us have a budget and limited closet space. From a more practical approach, here is a list of five coats every woman should have in her closet, year round.

The Pea Coat

Short peacoat

Ah, the peacoat - a timeless classic. A military woollen pea coat can take you through early spring and fall, and is a fabulous layering piece. It looks great worn unbuttoned and styled with a solid or printed scarf (this one is a Leo + Clive scarf - North Sea).

The Leather Moto

I have an entirely separate post dedicated to the Moto Jacket. This jacket goes with everything from athleisure to feminine dresses. It's incredibly versatile and transformative, turning basic outfitting into something more edgy. I love this in pale pink because it's as feminine as the Moto is going to get for such a masculine style.

The Knee-length Wool Coat

A classic knee-length woollen coat goes with absolutely everything, and can take you through almost 3 seasons. (The Leo + Clive scarf featured here is Mystic Mandala)

The Trench Coat

A great addition on those spring days you need an extra layer. It can take you from day to night, dressed up or in more casual attire. If you get one with waterproof material, even better for a function meets fashion piece!

The Parka

Having a parka in your closet goes without saying when winter strikes its cold spell. It's not a choice, but a necessity! I couldn't survive without a down parka when the temperatures go below zero degrees centigrade. There are so many fabulous options to choose from by Zara, Parajumpers, ADD, Moose Knuckles and Canada Goose. If there was one splurge I had to make, it would definitely be a PARKA!
